Managing internet connections so that only certain applications can connect to the web is the main bit of functionality that Hauberk Firewall offers to users. While Training Mode is enabled, every time an application wants to connect to the web, you will be presented with a prompt – you can then choose to block that application or set it connect to the web.

Hauberk Firewall can be installed on any 32 or 64-bit edition of Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 6. The installation process is a standard one: download an MSI file, run it, click through the setup wizard. There are two things that stand out: the fact that you will be invited to install the Yandex.Bar browser toolbar and the fact that once the installation completes, you will be asked to restart your machine.

When your machine restarts, certain applications will launch at startup. If these applications need to access the web, you will get a prompt. This is because Hauberk Firewall uses Training Mode by default – and this mode specifies that “permission is needed at each attempt to connect to the network.”

You will find the application's interface to be very easy to use – all you have to do is click through the tabs at the top:
Overview – allows you to switch between Training Mode, Allow All, and Block All; it lets you Allow only trusted or Disable only blocked; provides an overview of your connections and traffic.
Network Activity – presents a list of applications that are connected to the web.
Settings – allows you to view a list of Trusted Applications and IPs, a list of blocked applications, IPs, and requests, allows you to check for updates and change to another supported language.
About – informs you that you’re using a 30-day trial, enables you to register your Hauberk Firewall version.

A firewall is a must have utility for any user who wants to keep his PC and the data stored on it safe and secure. A firewall, this firewall, allows you to control all internet connections, set up a white/black list of keywords and websites, access network activity diagrams, and control the launch of applications.

So, with Hauberk Firewall, you have a powerful firewall utility that features a good looking and user friendly interface.

Pros

Hauberk Firewall is compatible with 32 and 64-bit Windows editions; the installation process goes along smoothly and rapidly. The interface is good looking and easy to use. Efficiently manage which applications can connect to the web.

Cons

Offers to install a toolbar; free to use for a 30-day period.
